Welcome Folks!

Why these Newsletters?

Accounting & Taxes are two topics that many are not comfortable discussing. Many people associate the accounting profession with a hunched over person that is buried in a pile of papers, covered with numbers that, for most people, mean nothing. Many accountants are quiet people that enjoy working alone and don’t necessarily enjoy talking to people, they hire gatekeepers to do those tasks for them. I love meeting new people and interacting with others. I would never be a successful accountant if it required doing the same job every day. Sitting at my desk from the moment I walk into my office until the moment I leave is not my desire. I believe accounting can be very fun, in this case, I define fun as meeting new people and discovering ways to save people money.

Have you ever pondered an accounting and tax topic and went to search online and could not find anything about it, or you had leads to five different answers? I am sure we have all had this experience, and after hours of researching we were still not sure what the right answer was. That is the reason for this newsletter, I will be writing about different topics, and will share a few links every other week on topics that will be interesting and relevant to you personally and to your business as well. The goal is to make this newsletter a compilation of relevant topics where subscribers can simply and effectively find the answers they are looking for.

If you are looking for an answer on certain tax or accounting topic, send me an e-mail at dragana@chadgarlandcpa.com and I will be happy to do the research and present my findings in one of the newsletters.

Who is Dragana Moran?

My name is Dragana Moran, I am originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am a single child of hard-working class parents who owned their own businesses all their lives. In 2007, I was recruited to come to the United States of America to play tennis for Northwestern State University in Natchitoches (NCCA Div I). I was a part of the team that won the Southland Conference tournament and Championship in 2010. I graduated from Northwestern State University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I moved to Shreveport in May of 2011 to complete my MBA and receive a degree in Accounting from LSUS. I was also a head tennis coach for LSUS from 2011 - 2019. My accounting career began in 2013 at KPMG, LLP in the tax department. After two years working for KPMG, LLP mostly on partnership taxation, I then decided to continue my career in public accounting with other smaller local firms to expand my knowledge to all other branches of accounting and tax. I currently work with Chad M. Garland in his practice in Shreveport, LA. I have a wide experience in individual, partnership, corporate, fiduciary taxation and various accounting services. I received my CPA license in February of 2019. My two other passions, aside from accounting, are tennis and spending time with my furry friends DeeDee, Dexter & Dixie (picture above). I will try to incorporate interesting facts about myself, and my opinion on current world topics, furry friends, and tennis world (a little extra fun ha!) into my newsletter every other week.

P.S. If you are looking for a CPA who will save you more time and money than they cost you, here are two ways we can get started:
